A Viking Community Festival
Gormánuður is a New Jersey local community festival sponsored by Vasa Park in partnership with Medieval Scenarios and Recreations, Inc. We seek to bring Viking and medieval history to the community through a fun engaging environment that is accessible and welcoming to all.
We are a public family-friendly event run by passionate volunteers. It takes a village! If you'd like to volunteer, please use our sign-up form.
The year is 1030 in Sweden, winter is coming and Gormánuður is upon us. It is time for one last celebration of our harvest, a hunt, sharing of the years brews, some dancing, and a warm bountiful feast before the approaching cold months ahead.
Gormánuður is typically known as the month of "Slaughter," and was considered to be the first month of winter in the old Norse calendar. It was a month filled with harvest festivals and roasted meats! As such, we invite our guests to join in on the fun and bring their home made brews, participate in combat bouts, perform bardic, and play period games!
Guaranteed registration by October 20.
